Oliver Surefoot was raised in a loving, caring family. He was taught, along with his brothers what the true meaning of morals and values are. As a young boy, Oliver had many good qualities, and his curiosity and way of thinking made him different from his brothers. Tom-Tom was strong like his dad and Jiffy was simply adorable, but Oliver was patient, intelligent, and compassionate. Although he never realized how strong he really was, his faith in God helped him to pass a test in life that he would never forget, as much as the reader will never forget Oliver. Three Fingers Cove consisted of many families that bonded together in love, happiness, friendship, and harmony. Then one day, that harmony turns into a nightmare, where love turned to fear, and changed the lives of all who lived there forever. This compelling story is a mirror image of what our future may hold, the doubts and mistrust we don't speak of and a reflection of the country we live in, filled with trials-and-tribulations. What would have happened to Oliver if he didn't believe in himself, or had no spiritual growth? Was it his faith that helped him to survive? Paul A. Ibbetson takes the reader on an emotional roller-coaster ride from the country to the city as we are introduced to unforgettable characters who come to life, while witnessing love, hatred, and sacrifice. Tippy Top was the beautiful home for its residents that made Three Fingers Cove a world to be proud of, until destruction and evil invaded peace and tranquility. I was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, in 1953. New Bedford was home to Herman Melville, author of 'MOBY DICK.' I believe that the first paragraph of 'MOBY DICK' is the best first paragraph of any novel I have ever read.
My father moved our family around the country nine times. I spent many good years, and many difficult ones growing up. Both the good and the bad contribute to my writing. While in high school in Bucks County Pennsylvania, I began to gravitate away from academics, and more toward the arts. I went to art school for painting, and later studied at Boston University.
Out of money, I transferred back to Pennsylvania, where I took a job as a cabinet-maker in a small Amish shop. While I earned minimum wage, I learned a valuable trade that would carry me for many years to come. After a year and a half at the cabinet job, I left to finish my schooling. In 1976, I graduated with my teaching degree and taught cabinetry for two years, before starting my own business in mid 1980. During that period, I married and was blessed with a beautiful daughter, and five years later, a beautiful son.
My business went on to grow and prosper, although it had its ups-and-downs, like all small businesses. But after thirty years, it still existed. By the time I sold the business, it had transformed itself from a cabinet shop to a design house, with about twenty employees. We specialized in the design and installation of architectural cabinetry for the entire residence.
The selling process was a tumultuous time for me. It was during that time period that I began to work on my novel, 'GoneAway.' I was not going to undertake the project, but I believe that my family realized that I needed a diversion from the weight of my problems in selling the business, so they prodded me to begin writing, something they all knew that I wanted to do.
I loved the process of writing the very minute I started. 'GoneAway' took three and a half years to complete. It is loosely based on a childhood story I told my children, when they were very young. They never forgot the story, and encouraged me to write it down for posterity. But, I could not write a children's story. It's just not me. My story had to involve more of an adult theme. The process was daunting, but I let it go on, never rushing it, and never feeling as if I was under any kind of a deadline. When it was finished, I had it read by two professional editors, who helped me to polish it up, and get it ready for publication. It took almost a year to find a publisher, but I did. Then, I began to work on my next novel, 'Beneath The Quarry Waters.'
Today, I live with my wife in Pennsylvania. Our two children are grown, and we are proud of them. My children and my wife have been a huge inspiration to me.

"IRRESISTIBLE FUN, EDUCATIONAL AND INSPIRING!"
When Charlene was born, her mother taught her all about life, and how to live it with happiness and fulfillment. Although Charlene was as beautiful as her big brother, Charlie, they both looked different. Charlie and his mom had black hair, but Charlene had shiny red hair. Charlie had white stockings, but Charlene didn't. As Charlene grew older, she learned that everyone, including her family and friends may look different, but are all unique in their own special way. Born into a family of famous race-horses, Charlene was convinced to follow the footsteps of fame and success in the same path that her family took. However, at a young age, Charlene knew what direction she wanted to go, but it wasn't the same direction that her parents and Charlie took. It was easy for Charlene to follow her dream, but very difficult to confess to her family that racing wasn't her dream or talent, and that she found it boring. Charlene's dream wasn't the same dream that her mother had for her, but her mother was her best friend, and she didn't want to disappoint her. Charlene's mother and her brother taught her that she must attempt to try racing as a test to see how good she would be. Unlike Charlie, Charlene protested with temper tantrums, but fulfilled her duties to make a decision after trying, with respect to her family. Charlene complimented Charlie, Ann, and Blossom for their fine work at Sweetbrier racing stable, knowing her talent was right across the street. Almost everyone that Charlene knew wanted to be a famous racehorse, just like Charlie. But no-one knew that Charlene's talent was quite different, except Charlene, Eva, and Ted. One of the happiest days in Charlene's life was being moved to 'Jumping For Joy Farm.' She finally began to follow her dream to the road of success, but was also away from her family and friends. With Elliot as her companion and new friend, she no longer felt lonely, and was able to focus on her work. Why was Charlene doing crow hops and yawning, while she was supposed to be racing with Ann and Blossom? How did Charlie respond when Charlene told him that she was embarrassed that she was last at the finish line? How did Charlene do at her First Real Jump? I highly recommend this book to children, parents, and teachers. Deanie fills each page with motivation and inspiration. This easy to read children's book is delightful and educational as it teaches young children to reach for the stars, and follow their dreams. The author teaches the young reader how to follow the footsteps of a good role model, and the importance of doing your best, regardless of which career path you choose. More important, with time and patience, our talents will blossom in our special place in the world. Did Elliot's friendship and Mary's praise make Charlene feel proud? How did Charlene do at the Sterling Club? Was number thirteen a lucky number for Charlene? How did Charlene's goals and dreams differ from the dreams Charlie had at her age? Does Charlene become a champion? "CHARLENE THE STAR" is funny, heartwarming, and as entertaining as THE HORSE WHISPERER!

Rai Aren has been in love with reading and storytelling since childhood. She began with her nose in Nancy Drew novels, devouring every book she could get her hands on. She loved them so much that she first tried her hand at writing stories by writing Nancy Drew fan fiction, though she didn't realize at the time that there was a name for it, or that it was a popular past-time for many people. Rai is an avid reader of all kinds of books, and she will often write reviews of books that she loves, whether by NYT bestsellers, or as-yet unknown authors. She enjoys giving credit where credit is due, and is an avid supporter of indie authors. Her 'tbr' pile is currently through the roof!
Rai has been fascinated by ancient Egypt for nearly her entire life. She remembers being introduced to ancient Egyptian culture in Grade 3, and was instantly and permanently captivated.
She was a member of the Society of the Study of Egyptian Antiquities for many years, and has her own personal library of books on this fascinating subject. Rai met her co-author in college, where they spent years together working on projects, and studying for exams. Later on, they found that they shared the same desire to create something fun, memorable and meaningful that would outlive them, an epic story in the form of a novel. After she saw a program on the Discovery Channel, where archaeologists were debating the actual age and origins of the Great Sphinx of Giza, she knew she had found the seed of that story. It became SECRET of the SANDS, which was a labor of love to write. Rai and Tavius E. are working on finalizing the sequel, "DESTINY of the SANDS."
In her spare time, Rai loves to spend time with her family, which includes four very sweet little kitty-cats. Rai also loves to read tons of books;watch movies;go to shows like Cirque du Soleil;have long conversations over dinners with friends and family; go for bike rides and walks in the park; and travel. Rai and her family are vegans, due to their passion for animal rights, and animal welfare. She is also a major science fiction geek, keeping Star Trek and Stargate on the TV as much as her family will allow. She also loves the fan letters that she and Tavius regularly receive, and wants their fans to know how much they mean to them. She was a member of the Society of the Study of Egyptian Antiquities for many years, and has her own personal library of books on this fascinating subject. Rai met her co-author in college, where they spent years together working on projects, and studying for exams. Later on, they found that they shared the same desire to create something fun, memorable and meaningful that would outlive them, an epic story in the form of a novel. After she saw a program on the Discovery Channel, where archaeologists were debating the actual age and origins of the Great Sphinx of Giza, she knew she had found the seed of that story. It became SECRET of the SANDS, which was a labor of love to write. Rai and Tavius E. are working on finalizing the sequel, "DESTINY of the SANDS."
In her spare time, Rai loves to spend time with her family, which includes four very sweet little kitty-cats. Rai also loves to read tons of books;watch movies;go to shows like Cirque du Soleil;have long conversations over dinners with friends and family; go for bike rides and walks in the park; and travel. Rai and her family are vegans, due to their passion for animal rights, and animal welfare. She is also a major science fiction geek, keeping Star Trek and Stargate on the TV as much as her family will allow. She also loves the fan letters that she and Tavius regularly receive, and wants their fans to know how much they mean to them. It inspires her to know how much people have enjoyed 'SECRET of the SANDS' and how eager they are for the sequel. Charlie was born in Kentucky, and grew up at Racing Haven Farm. His proud mom nurtured him, taught him what to eat, and showed him where to run. She introduced Charlie to other foals, and General Quick, who was a famous retired racehorse. Charlie wanted to be as famous as his dad, but knew he had to learn about running skills from the General. His best friends were Glory, and Buddy. After running around the pasture with his friends, he gained confidence to reach his goals, and follow his dream. How did Charlie feel when he was informed that he had to leave his mother and friends behind, when it was time to go to the training farm? Who taught Charlie that he had to overcome his fears, and what did he do at Sweetbrier Racing Stable? Did Charlie stay focused with weights on his back, a saddle, and a girth? What did Misty and Kerry teach Charlie, and was he focused? How did Charlie respond to the sound of a loud bell, and did he obey to the commands of cantering, trotting, and galloping? What was the reason for blinkers, and what happened at Delmar Race? At age two, Charlie ran at the Donley Fair Race, was he scared, and did he win? "DELIGHTFUL, EDUCATIONAL, and ENTERTAINING!"
Pooky was popular in Detroit, and played fun games with many friends. She loved the block parties on her street, running after the ice cream truck everyday, jumping rope, and singing. Her favorite games she enjoyed were hopscotch, and Hula-hoop. She didn't mind the old broken-down homes in Detroit, or playing in an abandoned house on her birthday, friendship was more important. A fun day for Pooky was getting wet with her friends as a fire hydrant sprinkled water on a hot, summer day. She will always remember the barbecues, Kool-aid drinks, sharing ice cream with King and the sound of happiness as children filled the street with skates, and shooting hoops. Then one day, Pooky and her mother moved to Ann Arbor, which instantly changed Pooky's life. What will the first day of school be like with Ms. Penny? Is Pooky laughing with her classmates, or are they laughing at her? What did Rodney tease Pooky about? Why was Sheila jealous of Pooky? How did Candy make a difference in Pooky's new lifestyle? I highly recommend this book to parents, child-care providers, and teachers. The author wrote an inspiring, educational, and uplifting story. The main character is Pooky, an adorable little girl, filled with spirit, and motivation.

Deanie Humphrys-Dunne spent her childhood at a riding school in Easton, CT. She has always enjoyed writing, and is a graduate of 'Children's Literature.' She is also a member of Cambridge
Who's Who. She has had one article published in 'Horsepower Magazine.' Her first book is "TAILS OF SWEETBRIER." It was published in 2009. "CHARLIE THE HORSE" is her second book. Deanie's essay will be featured in Publish America's new book, 'Why We Wrote.'
"CHARLIE THE HORSE" was a book of the week selection at Publish America. Deanie has done presentations of her books with Holly at grammar schools in her local area. Two schools are using her books as part of their reading program, and curriculum. Deanie has recently attended book signings, as well as actively participate in school programs, such as 'Diversity Day.' Also,
Deanie and Holly were interviewed on a local educational channel, conducted by a middle school
student, who is a member in a journalism club.
Deanie's other interests include: watching equestrian events, spending time with her husband Francis, and her sons Brendan and Shane, and their dog Elliot. She is an avid Yankee fan. She also enjoys music, and singing.
Holly was raised on a equestrian farm in the small town of Easton, Connecticut, now 'Lion Hill Farm.' At an early age, her formal training began under the teachings of Mr. Ray Quiqley, a renowned local Connecticut artist and illustrator. Country life inspired Holly's artistic talent. She has an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, TX. While she studied at SMU, Holly majored in sculpture, drawing and painting. After graduation, her career shifted to professional photography for several years. Recently, Holly returned to art as a profession, specializing in Equestrian portraits, family portraits, and children's book illustrations. In 2009, she illustrated "TAILS OF SWEETBRIER" and "CHARLIE THE HORSE." Both books were authored by her sister, Deanie Humphrys-Dunne. They will have a third book released soon titled "CHARLENE THE STAR." Holly's art has been featured in several local art shows. In addition, she has designed equestrian note cards, available for sale at local shops. Art has always been her passion, which she enjoys. Holly is a member of the Ridgefield Guild Of Artists. Her hobbies and interests include: horseback riding, hiking, gardening, supporting local animal and horse charities.

I grew up in South Florida, joined the Navy at eighteen, and found myself stationed far away from friends and family in beautiful Hawaii. I met a submariner there, we married, and had three beautiful children, before we moved back to the mainland. I now live in Connecticut and have found an unexpected passion in both writing as well as visiting schools, encouraging children to read, write, and not be afraid to follow their dreams!
